Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the Swachh Bharat Diwas program in New Delhi on 2nd October, on the 10th Anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission. This day also coincides with the 155th Gandhi Jayanti and will witness how the country has achieved many improvements in its sanitation facilities over the last decade. He will also launch and lay the foundation stones for various projects under Sanitation and Cleanliness at the cost of more than ₹9,600 crores during the program.

The program is proposed to highlight the achievements made during the last ten years, including the recent achievements of the concluded “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign. According to a statement from the PMO, the program will begin at around 10 AM at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The announcement will involve the declaration of key projects, including more than ₹6,800 crores for upgrading urban water and sewage facilities under the AMRUT and AMRUT 2.0 schemes, ten projects with a total estimated value of over ₹1,550 crores relating to water quality improvement and waste management in the Ganga basin under the National Mission for Clean Ganga, and 15 compressed biogas plant projects worth more than ₹1,332 crores under the GOBAR-dhan scheme.

The theme of “Swachhata Hi Seva 2024” is “Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata,” reinforcing the country’s determination toward cleanliness, public health, and environmental sustainability.
