Monsoon woes in Delhi-NCR: Waterlogging and traffic chaos

The IMD warned that Friday’s southwest monsoon has set in over the Delhi-NCR region. Although people got much-needed rains as they were relieved from the scorching heat of the sun, they compromised their comfort as the rains caused water logging, traffic jam,s and many other problems for the residents.

Based on the IMD, the monsoon has progressed deeper into Delhi territory, and the NLM is passing through significant places. The weather office also reported that a few more areas of West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar have received southwest monsoon.

Some of the televised visuals emanating from Delhi and its surroundings included water logging, traffic hindrance, road collapse, overturned trees, and broken pillars, among others. People shared their concerns, one corporate employee, Aman, remarked, ‘The rain has eased the hot weather to some extent but badly affected the road condition and besides commuting to the office has become a nightmare’.

The Delhi Traffic Police continued to release routine messages on flood and traffic congestion, and the Safdarjung observatory marked 153. 7 mm of rainfall. According to the IMD, they will have to expect new instances of inconvenience as they have predicted that for the next week, Delhi will experience cloudy temperature and rain accompanied by gusty winds.
