Mumbai Shooting incident: New arrest made, alleged financing and petition for CBI Probe

The case underwent some surprising changes when the incident occurred last month outside the Khan family house in Mumbai. A new suspect was identified and arrested on Monday, resulting in the addition of another suspect to the criminals responsible for the crime.

In Rajasthan, the police managed to catch the fifth accused, Mohammad Rafiq Chaudhary. According to the insiders within the police department, the list included not only Chaudhary, who executed the shooting himself, but he is also suspected of paying for the operation, they added. In this most recent arrest, 4 such people have been taken into police custody over their alleged participation in the event.

Nevertheless, this exceptional case has a shortfall in that one of the accused, Anuj Thapan, died while being in police custody. As a consequence of this regrettable decline in his family, a lawsuit has been filed by Petition in the Bombay High Court. A CBI investigation into the circumstances behind the death is sought.

Rita Devi, Thapan’s mother, has made allegations that her son lost his life due to some malpractice and not by suicide, as the police are claiming. She alleges her son underwent physical beating and torture there in the police cell. The writ petition, which shall be discussed in the High Court, shall seek a case transfer to the CBI.

In the context of the shooting incident, total arrests of four individuals- Thapan, Sonu Bishnoi, Sagar Pal, and Vicky Gupta have been made. Thapan was involved in the keeping and delivery of the firearms and ammunition used in the shooting incident. On the other hand, Sonu Bishnoi was caught along with Thapan in Punjab on 26th April.

This high-profile case is under investigation now, and law enforcement is exerting its efforts to the maximum extent to unravel all the aspects of the incident and apprehend those responsible for the vicious act.
