Maya Gogoi, a blogger based out of Assam, was found murdered inside a service apartment in Bengaluru’s Indira Nagar area. According to police, Gogoi and a man named Aarav Hanoy checked into the apartment on November 23 at 12:30 pm.
Authorities believe that Hanoy stabbed Gogoi multiple times in the chest on November 24. He allegedly remained inside the suite with her body until the early hours of the following morning before fleeing the scene.
A complaint was received at Indira Nagar police station regarding a foul smell emanating from a room in the Royal Living service apartment. The police, who investigated it, found Gogoi’s body lying on the bed. “We have filed a murder case at the police station,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, East, D. Devaraj said.
A knife was allegedly left at the scene of the crime, with a nylon wire, ordered online, by the suspect, who works as a student counsellor at Leap Scholar. According to the police, the murder seemed pre-planned.
A manhunt has been launched for Hanoy, and investigation is in process. Police confirmed that Gogoi worked in Koramangala.
“We are currently on-site and have dispatched a team to HSR Layout where she worked to establish her identity. The accused is from Kerala, and efforts are being made to gather more information. A media briefing will follow at 6 PM with updates on the preliminary investigation,” Devaraj added.
