The probe into the gruesome murder of ex-Karnataka Police Chief Om Prakash has developed a dramatic turn, with his wife Pallavi making shocking assertions regarding her involvement with the deceased retired officer. The retired police chief was found dead at his Bengaluru house, with multiple stab wounds, while Pallavi has claimed she was a “hostage” in her home, living in fear.
Messages sent by Pallavi to various WhatsApp groups have surfaced, revealing her troubled mental state. Reports indicate that she has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and other mental health issues, conditions that her son has also noted in a police complaint. Consequently, the authenticity of her messages is under scrutiny.
In one alarming message to a group of IPS officers, Pallavi sought immediate action on her husband, an 1981-batch IPS officer. She said Om Prakash’s revolver must be taken away immediately, alleging, “I am a hostage. Always under surveillance by Om Prakash’s agents wherever I go.”
Pallavi also accused her husband of poisoning her. “I have been insisting on living apart from him for years, but in vain. Every time I go out by myself, the same food and water poisoning begins,” she claimed, hinting that domestic staff were told to spike her food. She also feared for her daughter, Kruthi, claiming that Kruthi was also suffering and could not keep quiet about the matter. Both women have been arrested, and investigations are still being conducted to ascertain their role in Om Prakash’s murder.
In her messages, Pallavi alleged that even food delivery was disrupted on her husband’s instructions. “Money makes everything so easy. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely,” she said, narrating her desperation at her daughter’s plight. Pallavi cautioned that if something happened to her or Kruthi, “however natural or accidental it may appear,” Om Prakash would be held responsible.
She recounted an episode in which a person in a van purportedly discharged a powder that made her uncomfortable, claiming she had avoided reporting such incidents in the past for fear of being disbelieved. “The dark world operation is much, much different from our normal world,” she said.
The conditions of Om Prakash’s death are disturbing. He was allegedly tied up and stabbed, with past violence between the couple having emerged. Pallavi had already hit him on the head with a rock, leaving more questions about the dynamics of their relationship. Their son, Karthikesh, reported that his mother had threatened his father for a week, so he temporarily lived with his sister. Kruthi, however, insisted that he go home, which he did shortly before the deadly encounter.
In his complaint to the police, Karthikesh had strong doubts about his sister and mother being involved in his father’s killing. He described the scene on the day he got a call telling him of his father’s death, relating how he arrived home to find his father lying in a pool of blood, with a broken bottle and a knife nearby.
The probe goes on as officials investigate deeper into the reasons and the situation behind this sad case.
