Naidu reiterates TDP’s allegiance to NDA after Andhra Poll success

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has reconfirmed the party’s commitment to remaining part of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)- led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after the TDP’s good showing in the just-concluded 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the electoral battle for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

While briefing the media persons in Vijayawada before leaving for the National Capital, Naidu cleared that TDP would continue in NDA. He may table his claim for Speakership during the terminated NDA meeting in Delhi on Wednesday.

Naidu thanked the voters for their support and stated,

“Yes, political ups and downs are inevitable, and it’s not the first time many political leaders or political parties have been voted out In this election, the voters have spoken. This is a historic election, even the overseas voters have returned to cast their votes”.

The TDP chief said that it had been his party’s long-standing tradition to always speak the truth and work for the welfare of its people. He added that he was thankful to the alliance partner in Andhra Pradesh, Jana Sena, and its leader Pawan Kalyan for “taking the responsibility of saving the state and preceding forward.” Naidu went on to say that after some time, the BJP, too came into the alliance, and they all fought hard for this victory.

However, it has come to light that many within the INDIA bloc showed no willingness to engage with Naidu, although there are reports that a few overtures were made to the TDP head. Naidu’s decision comes as an advantage to the NDA, which has most of the seats in the lower house of parliament but is somewhat short of a clean sweep.
