The NDA worked out the Cabinet list before the beginning of Modi’s government’s third straight term swearing-in ceremony.
New Delhi: While the entire country is keenly waiting for the oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for the third term, the new MPs elected from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) held a decisive sitting to select the candidates for the government’s cabinet ministers.
Prime Minister officer Narendra Modi of India will also have the function of swearing in his new government, which is set for tomorrow evening. This would be a historical event in India as Modi, with this victory, will be the first Prime Minister in power for the third term, leaving the great Congress leader Jawaharlal Nehru behind.
The BJP allied itself to become the largest party with 240 of the total 545 seats for Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Lok Sabha elections. They, however, failed to achieve the majority mark by a small margin of 32 seats out of the total 190 seats.
The BJP has left no stone unturned to gain the support of the four major allies to reach the majority mark, which includes N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) or JD(U), Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, and Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas.
However, understanding the significance of these partners, TDP head Naidu and JD(U) leader Kumar have stated in the media that they agreed to choose Modi as the alliance’s PM candidate. The focus now turns to the ongoing discussions that the BJP is having with its two major NDA partners, the TDP and the JD(U), all of which are eager to have better ministerial portfolio positions in the cabinet.
