Since November, over 600 individual infernos have engulfed vast tracts of precious forest reserves, severely impacting the treasured woodlands of Garhwal and Kumaon. Officials point to the perfect storm of spiking temperatures, perpetual dry spells, and parched undergrowth exacerbating the onslaught.
