Neighboring states rally to support Wayanad landslide victims

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also stands with the bereaved families and mourns the deaths caused by the landslide in Wayanad, Kerala. This happened on Tuesday, and more than 50 people have been reported dead; the number is ascending as the search for the rest of the victims is underway.

He said in one of the tweets, Oh! I am extremely pained to see the ravages of flood in Wayanad, Which takes my breath away – the sheer scale of devastation. Family Kerala, let’s come together; we are all united. Deeply distressing, But we stand with you when you need us the most. We are ready and willing to assist you in this hour of despair – Karnataka with you.

Likewise, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has promised the Kerala government his and his government’s support. He has also ordered the state Directors to dispatch teams from Tamil Nadu for further rescue operations if necessary.

The KSDMA has stated that 250 fire and rescue, civil defense, NDRF, and local emergency response teams are engaged in the rescue. Furthermore, apart from the Kodiyeri Baby-led NDRF team, two Kannur Defence Security Corps teams have been directed to proceed to Wayanad for the searches.

The rescue mission has also benefited from the use of two Air Force helicopters, a Mi-17 and an ALH, which are involved in the search and rescue exercise.

In addition, the Kerala Health Department has set up a control room and two emergency numbers, 9656938689 and 8086010833, to contact in case of any requirement.

Regrettably, according to the latest information, the authorities stated that a hundred-plus people are still missing and likely buried under the massive landslides typical for the area.

While the operations are still ongoing, the residents of Karnataka and Tamil Nad support their neighboring states in coping with calamities.
