Things are turning worse on the main accused, Sanjay Roy, of the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case, as new evidence is emerging in the form of CCTV footage and forensic reports. Accounts given show that when cornered and questioned, Roy confessed to having a glimpse of the 31-year-old victim in the chest medicine ward on August 8 – a day before the act. From the footage, his arrival was established at the time of the incident, as was the arrival of the victim and several junior doctors.
Roy arrived at the hospital at 4 a.m. on August 9, a time that police believe the attack happened. Claimed to demonstrate ‘animal-like behavior,’ sources said that while relating the occurrence, Roy lacked any sense of remorse during interrogation.
The post-mortem done on the victim establishes the cause of death to be ‘manual strangulation associated with smothering’ and the presence of signs of rape. There have been allegations that others were involved in the commission of the crime, although police have not supported such allegations.
The action has raised eyebrows, especially on how Roy has been accessing the hospital compound, especially in impersonating a police official. Some of the conduct theories have him as a man of violence at home and a molester to ladies at the hospital, too. Enquires are still being carried out while people’s anger increases.
