Acharya emerges as the governor of Assam that has the extra responsibility of acting as the Manipur governor throughout other major gubernatorial postings; the Rashtrapati Bhavan has said THAT, Banwarilal Purohit’s replacement by Gulab Chand Kataria as governor of Punjab.
Acharya has replaced Kataria, while the latter has also been given the concurrent charge of the administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a communication on Saturday night.
This, the ministry said, as President Droupadi Murmu has agreed to the former’s resignation from the post of the governor of Punjab and the administrator of Chandigarh.

While the major gubernatorial appointments include Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who has been appointed as the governor of Assam with additional charge of Manipur replacing Banwarilal Purohit, and for Punjab, there is a replacement of Banwarilal Purohit by Gulab Chand Kataria as announced by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Acharya has replaced Kataria, who has also been made the administrator of the union territory of Chandigarh, the Rashtrapati Bhavan recorded in a statement on Saturday evening.
It also said President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Purohit as the governor of Punjab and the administrator of Chandigarh.
Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as Governor of Assam and has been given the additional charge of Governor of Manipur,” the press statement added.
Anusuiya Uikye has been governor of Manipur since February of the latest year.
The communique said veteran BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed the new governor of Sikkim.
The Telangana Governor C P Radhakrishnan, the additional charge of which was Jharkhand, would be replacing the incumbent, Ramesh Bais, on the Maharashtra Governor’s post.
