The new video shared on social networking sites is one of several depicting scenes of the fatal terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people. A fresh video of the Pahalgam terror attack surfaced depicting tourists huddled together as gunshots are heard in the background.
The clip, posted on social media sites, is one of several depicting scenes from the fatal terror attack that killed 26 people. Frightened tourists, women, and children are seen cowering in the video with local tour guides and operators.
The voices of panic from tourists can be heard in the video, while some locals are heard telling them to get down low so they won’t be seen by the attackers. Several such videos of the attack have been posted on social media in the past week, some of which also capture the terrorists taking out guns and shooting at point-blank tourists.
The terror strike occurred in Pahalgam’s picturesque Baisaran valley, where the tourists were indulging in pony rides and picnics. Militant-attired gunmen came out of the pine grove that ringed the meadow, catching them off guard. There are reports of eyewitnesses narrating how male tourists were targeted while some others claimed to have been targeted for being part of a specific religious community and asked to recite the ‘kalima’, a solemn expression of faith.
There are also clips of injured tourists being rescued by local tour guides and operators on ponies and others being carried on their backs. Rescue teams and security forces were slow in responding to reach the meadow, which is only accessible on a non-motorable road.
Following the attack, in consideration of cross-border connections, India scaled down its diplomatic relations with Pakistan with Monday marking the “exit-India\” deadline for Pakistani citizens who had to end their visits prematurely due to visa revocations. The attack was the most lethal strike in the Valley since the Pulwama attack in 2019. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy organization of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), took responsibility for it.
