The baby girl was found after passersby heard her crying. She was taken to a hospital and later sent to Bhopal for advanced health care.
A newborn baby girl with her throat slit and bleeding was found in a waste dump in the Pachor town of Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district on Saturday, police said.
Passersby found the baby after her cries alerted them. Police quickly took the baby to the Civil Hospital, said Pachor police station in-charge Akhilesh Verma.
The newborn had a cut on the throat inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon, said civil surgeon Dr PS Parmar. “The girl is one to two days old. After first aid, she was referred to Rajgarh District Hospital,” he said.
Rajgarh Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Kiran Wadia said in the evening that the baby was being shifted to Bhopal for advanced health care.
Inspector Verma further said a case has been registered here, and CCTV footage of every house and shop in the locality is being scanned to track the perpetrators.
