Outrage in India over U.S. deportation of migrants

India has seen increasing public outrage about U.S. deportations of illegitimate immigrants as U.S. Border Patrol shares circulatory footage which sparked widespread debate within the country. A video released by USBP Chief Michael W.

Banks on X shows 104 deportees entering a military transport plane where a few receive handcuffing before an extensive flight takes place. A direct warning followed the video which stated: “If you enter illegally you will be deported.”

A 24-second video shows the C-17 transport plane releasing its rear door as migrants walk through when accompanied by dramatic musical background. The sight showed tied-up legs which sparked worries about the human dignity of deported people.

The Trump administration used a growing pattern to increase the deployment of military resources for deportation operations. Last night the plane transporting deportees arrived at Amritsar in Punjab just before midnight. Numerous shocking stories emerged from that location.

Jaspal Singh from Gurdaspur paid an agent 30 lakh rupees to get legal entry into the U.S. before being smuggled through an unlawful route for the price. Harwinder Singh of Hoshiarpur experienced a terrifying international travel that required him to cross hazardous terrain as he recounted his story.

Opposition MPs from India heavily criticize the deportation process of these migrants. At Parliament Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra conducted protests to ask for a dialogue on shackles usage in deportation procedures. According to Shashi Tharoor the United States holds its right to deportation yet the approach of shackling deportees seemed both excessive and disturbing.

The upcoming “Overseas Mobility (Facilitation and Welfare) Bill, 2024” represents a potential solution for government leaders who want to develop better security measures for migrants while they are deported from their destination nations.
