The Indigo flight 6E17 (Mumbai-Istanbul) was initially scheduled to depart at 6:55 am on Saturday but has now been rescheduled to take off at 11 pm.
At least 100 passengers on an IndiGo flight bound for Istanbul were allegedly stranded at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for more than 16 hours due to a technical glitch in the aircraft.
The Indigo flight 6E17 (Mumbai-Istanbul) was initially scheduled to depart at 6:55 am on Saturday but has now been rescheduled to take off at 11 pm. Later, the airline arranged an alternative aircraft to fly the stranded passengers.
Angry passengers vented their anger on the social media platforms when the airline said the flight was delayed due to operational reasons.
They were kept onboard the aircraft for several hours without information about what was happening to them, leaving them perplexed and irritated. None of them received food and water, nor was a representative from the airline seen ready to hear their complaints. Some of the passengers complained.
A passenger narrated that he was handed drinking water after 13 hours of this ordeal when the IndiGo staff approached passengers and informed them that the flight was cancelled.
According to PTI, flyers complained that the flight was delayed multiple times during the day. Passengers also claimed they were made to board and deboard the aircraft numerous times before being told the final departure time.
Another passenger said that, during the delay, air conditioning inside the flight was stopped, which added to their discomfort. Moreover, passengers were made to change queues multiple times without proper communication.
An X user, Sonam Saigal, tweeted, “My brother has been stuck at Mumbai International Airport for more than 12 hours due to extremely unprofessional behaviour by @IndiGo6E and their staff. He had a delayed flight to Istanbul, and then he was made to board and deboard again twice!!” She further expressed disappointment in the staff’s rudeness and lack of information regarding rescheduling or refunds.
