At least 41 school children were admitted to different hospitals after a Haryana Roadways bus fell near Naulta village of Pinjore on Monday. The number of students critically injured in the accident is still being counted by government officials.
An officer from the Kalka police stated that the students were quickly taken to a government hospital in Pinjore to seek treatment. As reported to PTI by an official, several schoolchildren were also wounded in the mishap involving a Haryana Roadways bus.
The reason behind the accident is still uncertain, but the most probable cause that is speculated is speed reinforcement. The bus driver, as the report has it, escaped the scene of the event while the conductor was injured and rushed to the hospital.
According to the company’s management, Haryana Roadways has terminated the bus driver and conductor that met the accident. Only earlier in the week, another school bus lost control and aggressively drove into several cars in Hisar, severely injuring a biker. In that case, the bus brakes were said to have developed some defects, hence the accident.
The recent mishap in Pinjore thus again stresses the need for strict measures and better maintenance of public transport vehicles, particularly those carrying school-going children. The matter is said to have been brought before the authorities, who ensured that they conducted an investigation to identify the cause and the measures that need to be taken to avoid such eventualities in the future.
