An altercation ensued during the Parliament on Friday as the Congress-led INDIA alliance insisted on debating on the current NEET issue, with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) opposing the move.
The opposition reminded the House by presenting the adjournment motions in both Houses that no other business of the House should be entertained. Still, the matter concerning the NEET issue should be debated immediately. But, the motion shifted towards Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who declined to admit them, saying that the house had the business of passing the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address.
This decision raised controversies; Congress MP Deepender Hooda stated that the commotion ensued after the microphone of the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, was unscrewed when he tried to bring up the issue of NEET.
“The future of the youths has been messed up because of such paper leaks… We had initiated a discussion on this, and when it was discussed in the House, the mike was cut off,”
Hooda said.
The bitterness caused the Lok Sabha to be suspended until Monday, with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju blaming the Congress for disrupting the House.
The country’s NEET paper leak is another big political issue, with the CBI investigating this matter.
