Parliament in session: Newly-Elected MPs to complete oath-Taking Process

Parliament Live Updates: The NDA, announced in 2003, with 293 members in the 543-member Lok Sabha, continued to have clear dominance over the parliament, while opposition I. N. D. I. A. has 234 members.
New Delhi:
One hundred and twenty-five MPs were sworn in on the first sitting of the 18th Lok Sabha—200 of them are first-time MPs, while 85 of them have been re-elected—are all new to the Lok Sabha; Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of them. Today, the rest of the 281 new members will swear the oaths.

The oath-taking session brought the inaugural sittings of the 18th Lok Sabha into force in terms of the swearing-in of the new MPs.

The election for the Speaker of the Lok Sabha will take place on June 26. A parliamentary leaders’ meeting has been planned for June 27, during which President Draupadi Murmur will address the joint sitting of both houses of parliament.

Possessing 293 memberships out of the total 543 in the Lok Sabha, the NDA has a wider majority over the I.N.D.I.A. opposition with 234 MPs.
