Crude oil and gasoline prices are in line for a significant cut of ₹2 per litre, a measure announced by the Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri just a few days ago. This is the first country-wide revision of the gasoline rate since May 2022; this is the first time.
The per kilometre crude (petrol or diesel) prices vary from state to state because of state levies and local fees, which are not charged in other states. Minister Puri on X (usually Twitter) made it obvious that Narendra Modi’s prime minister’s decision to cut the fuel price was meant to cater to the well-being of millions of Indian citizens.
The pricing review undertaken by the oil ministry shows that a new rate regime will commence at 6 a.m. tomorrow. This will allow other consumers who have been subjected to high fuel prices in recent years to lower their fuel prices.
