Piyush Goyal urges realtors to ensure ESIC, PF cover for 7 cr workers

Use environment-friendly construction technologies, which will, in turn, be pollution-free, manufacturing units of the equipment being imported now: Piyush Goyal.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today advised CREDAI members to ensure that 7 crore people working in the real estate sector are assured of guaranteed ESIC and provident fund registration, adopt quicker and more sustainable construction methods to reduce pollution and costs, and have manufacturing facilities set up for construction equipment, which is primarily imported.

“I would request you to sit down and ponder this in very grave, serious terms. Can we assure a guaranteed ESIC and provident fund registration of all these 70 million workmen and women (working in this sector)?” Goyal told 1100 real estate developers participating at the Credai-NATCON event currently taking place in Sydney.

This will ensure guaranteed ESIC and PF registrations, and, therefore, credit will go to the excellent work the industry is doing. Very often, that credit is found wanting because many policymakers, possibly bankers and possibly regulators, still look upon the sector through the prism of the past. I think it’s time we change that,” says Goyal.

He requested CREDAI generate a resolution on November 25, as the association celebrates its 25th anniversary with stakeholder discussions with its 14,000 members.

Goyal opines, “ESIC and PF registration ensured health coverage for all in the sector and pension for post-retirement social security.

He says this will go a long way in enhancing the productivity and efficiency of people working in this sector, thus improving the quality.”
