PM Modi accuses Jharkhand government of corruption at rally

At a rally in Bokaro on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government for “widespread corruption.” He cited the illegal mining scam and the large cash recoveries in the state. Accusing the coalition of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress of looting public money, Modi charged that those who ran the state government had cheated the people of Jharkhand.

“Soren government has looted Jharkhand. Once we form a government, I assure you that we will pursue legal action to ensure that those who have perpetrated this corruption face severe consequences. The money that belongs to you will be sent to benefit you and your children,”

Modi said.

Continuing the attack on JMM, Modi said,

“Their leaders are amassing wealth through illegal sand mining. Mountains of cash have been discovered. From where did this money come in? Is it not your money? Is it not the money that has been taken away from you?”

In his address, the Prime Minister also targeted the previous Congress regime at the Centre, naming the Sonia Gandhi-led dispensation and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

“From 2004 to 2014, the Congress government could not spend even ₹80,000 crore in Jharkhand in ten years. But after 2014, with your cooperation, we have provided more than ₹3 lakh crore to Jharkhand in the last ten years,”

He said.

Reiterating the BJP-NDA government’s commitment to development in Jharkhand, Modi said,

“We carved out Jharkhand, and we will make it progress. Those who opposed the formation of this state will never contribute to its development.”

During the rally, the Prime Minister assured an all-out war on corruption, including NEET paper leaks and recruitment mafias.

“We have one more objective in Jharkhand. The paper leak mafia and recruitment mafia that have put a question mark on the futures of our youths will be dismantled. Each of them will be identified and prosecuted. Their plans will be destroyed,”

He said.

The election to the Assembly is scheduled to be held in two phases in Jharkhand on November 13 and November 20, and counting is scheduled for November 23.
