The BJP is all geared up for an aggressive election campaign for the coming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, where Narendra Modi and Amit Shah may address the poll meetings. A major uplift is on the cards with Choudhary Zulfiqar Ali, a major Gujjar leader, joining the party to ensure the party’s strength in the region.
The BJP is planning to start its above-the-noise political campaign next week for the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections.
Sources confirmed that all top leaders of the BJP, including its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and the party President JP Nadda, are going to address rallies in the union territory, which shows the party’s seriousness in its pursuit of electoral victory.
As part of the strategy it has planned, the BJP is likely to fight the J&K assembly elections alone while entering into seat sharing with independents and other small regional parties in the Valley only.
The party is also expecting a massive change in the candidate list, as people familiar with it say that in the new list 80% of the candidates will be newcomers.
Besides, a crucial meeting of the BJP is also likely to be held in Jammu today, where Union Minister and in charge of J&K Assembly polls G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina, and other leaders are likely to put a seal on the probable candidates list.
In a major boost likely to the BJP prospects in the region, former political leader Choudhary Zulfikar Ali Khan is all set to join the BJP in Jammu at 11 a.m. today.
