Starting an attack on the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacked the Senior party leader Sam Pitroda, whose intention was to advocate for an inheritance tax law in India for wealth redistribution. The President of the Congress Party, Mallikarjun Kharge, reported half the truth.
While addressing a public meeting in Surguja, Chattisgarh, PM Modi claimed that the Congress Party had planned to hike up taxes that would make it impossible for future generations to enjoy what the present generation worked for. He accused the Democrats of wanting to impose taxation on assets that had been inherited to thievishly confiscate from children of their parents.
Amit Shah also grabbed this opportunity to position the BJP against the Congress’s stance by saying that Pitroda has given away the Congress’s true intentions. Shah recited his previous statements and his recent ‘golden calf’ saying as illustrations of the Congress party’s intentions.
Congress clarified the matter by stating that the party did not fully back Pitroda’s opinion and was an individual’s stand.
The debate has sparked because India’s wealth distribution and tax policy are at the heart of present political arguments. The comment of Pitroda has become a target for the rule governing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the stereotyping of the people of BJP have accused Congress of wanting to “destroy India” through excessive taxation and intervention in wealth redistribution matters.
