PM launches attack on Congress manifesto ahead of elections
In a poll-eve rally in Ajmer, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce attack on the Congress manifesto, calling it a “bundle of lies” to divide India.
Addressing the gathering, the PM Modi said every page of the Congress manifesto reeks of attempts to tear the nation apart. He alleged it reflects thoughts akin to those of the Muslim League before Independence.
Hitting out further, Modi remarked today’s Congress lacks principles and policies and has outsourced everything.
He contended the party’s document wants to push India back to the previous century. Strong assertions were also made about the BJP government’s pro-women policies.
The Congress swiftly responded, with senior leader Jairam Ramesh reminding the PM that the BJP’s ideological founder, Mookerjee himself, was part of a Bengal coalition with the Muslim League in the 1940s.
He dismissed the allegation of the Congress practicing divisive politics, in stark contrast to the BJP’s rhetoric.
Rajasthan votes in two phases on April 19 and 26. The BJP swept the state polls in 2014-19. But the vehement manifesto attack sets the stage for a high-pitched battle this time.
The verbal duels come ahead of crucial state elections that will prove a litmus test for major national parties.
