Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kuwait on Saturday, December 21, for a two-day visit as part of India’s strong push to nurture its relationship with the Gulf nation. On the invitation of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, this becomes the first visit by an Indian PM to Kuwait after 43 years.
Upon arrival, Modi was received at the airport by Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah of Kuwait, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and Interior. The ceremonial reception speaks volumes about this historic visit.
The Prime Minister has shown excitement over the visit through a social media update, saying it has the potential to bring the India-Kuwait relationship closer in every field. He mentioned that the visit is significant and promises to bring the two countries closer.
The moment was shared by the Ministry of External Affairs too, whereby a spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, announced Modi’s arrival and the ceremonial welcome he received at the hands of the Kuwaiti leadership, including the Foreign Minister among others.
He will discuss topical issues with Kuwaiti leaders during his stay in addition to meeting with the Indian community in that country and further solidifying the cultural and economic links between the two nations.
