PM Modi celebrates Yoga Day indoors in rainy Srinagar

PM Modi leads International Yoga Day celebrations in rainy Srinagar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today participated in the celebrations of the eighth International Yoga Day in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir amid inclement weather.

The event, held at the scenic Sher-e-Kashmir Convention Centre near Dal Lake, was advanced this morning owing to moderate to heavy rains across the Kashmir Valley.

PM Modi along with a reduced gathering of attendees performed various yoga asanas indoors, with the theme emphasizing individual well-being and social cohesion.

Massive security arrangements were made for the high-profile visit involving SPG, marine commandos, and regular combing operations because of the prevailing situation.

The UT has witnessed multiple terror attacks this month after recording high voter turnouts in the recent polls. Authorities clamped high alert across Srinagar district to ensure peaceful observance of the international event in such sensitive conditions.

Despite rains playing spoilsport, the successful hosting along the idyllic lake enhances J&K’s appeal as a destination for yoga, helping spotlight preventive healthcare and community bonding objectives.
