PM Modi: ‘Limited time, much to do beyond current situation’

The Pahalgam terrorist attack that resulted in the killing of 26 people has been causing anger across India, and demands have come from all corners of the nation for a harsh response against Islamabad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asserted that India has been given enormous objectives to fulfill in a very little time—creating speculation over whether there was imminent retaliation for the Pahalgam attack or not. Subsequently, however, he cleared the air, stating that his statements were unrelated to the current context.

The Pahalgam terror attack that took 26 lives has outraged India, with calls from all over the country for a robust response against Islamabad. Referring to the YUGM Conclave in New Delhi, PM Modi stated, “We have given a time frame of the next 25 years for the vision of a developed India. We have limited time; the targets are huge. I am not saying this for the current scenario.”

Terrorists opened fire indiscriminately on scores of tourists at Pahalgam on April 22, killing at least 26, in the valley’s worst terror attack after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. The Resistance Front (TRF), the shadow wing of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was responsible for the terror attack, which led to India downgrading its diplomatic relations with Pakistan across the board.

PM Modi on Sunday, on the 121st edition of his radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ reiterated his promise of giving the “toughes”t” punishment to terrorists and their financiers, assuring the kin of the Pahalgam attack victims that “justice will be served.”

He pointed out that Kashmir experienced tremendous growth in the last few years, with the boost in tourism and jobs for the youth, and declared the Pahalgam attack an attempt by the nation’s enemies to spoil the development of the region.

“I assure the families of the victims that they will receive justice. The plotters and perpetrators of this attack will get the strongest response,” PM Modi said.

This marked Prime Minister Modi’s second address to the nation following the Pahalgam attack, as his first came from Bihar, where he pledged that the terrorists and masterminds behind the Pahalgam attack would face a punishment “beyond their imagination.”
