PM Modi refutes anti-minority allegations, defends inclusive vision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has firmly denied the allegations that were made against him regarding divisive remarks against minorities while addressing prominent journalists at his ‘Mann ki Baat’ event on January 27, 2019. While talking to PTI Modi explained that the BJP was working for India’s inclusive growth.

The Prime Minister further said that Ambedkar and Nehru were responsible for framing the Indian Constitution and did not intend or foresee reservations on religious grounds. He attacked the Congress party for selling the masses a ‘big lie’ of appeasement and said he stood for ‘sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and ‘Sarva dharma Sambhav.

Mr. Modi also dismissed the criticisms from the other side that his election speeches have been tribalizing this nation by saying that the concept of redistributing the wealth from the Hindus to the Muslims is ‘logical’. He also accused the Congress of not refuting his claims that the Muslim League has drawn their manifesto.

The political nature of the situation with the election buzz has shown the attitude of the Prime Minister to this issue. It once again demonstrates political tensions on the topic of minorities and the role of religion in Indian affairs.
