PM Modi slams opposition as Supreme Court rejects EVM verification pleas

In a sharp retort, the BJP-led government led by PM Narendra Modi lashed the Supreme Court’s rejection of petitions urging the use of VVPAT and EVMs for further checking. When the court passed flaying orders on the opposition in an election rally in the Araria district of Bihar, the PM of India called it a tight slap to the pole entitled. He called upon the opposition to seek an apology to the entire nation.

Disclosing his contentment with the court’s decision, the Premier proclaimed it a great sign of the developing democracy. He scorned the Opposition for endlessly trying to discredit the EVMs by lowering the credibility of the voting system for the motives of these parties.

PM Modi made a statement saying that whereas the world honors democracy and the electoral system of the country, opponents tried to weaken it.

The Supreme Court, in a bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, threw away the prayer of all petitions regarding complete reconciliation between evolved machines and voter-verified paper audit trail. The court said that the presence of trust and accord between branches of government was the regulation covered from biased doubts.

However, PM Modi additionally accused the Congress party of running a conspiracy aimed at the rights of the communities belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, in addition to the other Backward Classes (OBCS).

His attack was directed at creating division among the OBC community by resorting to the Congress party’s attempts to introduce reservations based on religion. He blamed Congress by quoting their example of including Muslims in the list of entire (and irrespective of) OBCs, leaving no room for any financial status.

In addition to his criticism, the Prime Minister also hammered the RJD—Congress alliance for its previous actions of going against the Indian Constitution and disenfranchising the voters. He emphasized that their current strategy to cast doubt on EVMs is the very tool that has eliminated the setting for dishonest vote buyers and helped marginalized voters have a say in the system.

The senior Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal underlined that the verdict of the Apex Court only illustrated the Opposition’s ills-will project to assault the Commission.
