PM Modi to lead yoga day in Srinagar and unveil major J&K projects

PM Modi to undertake a two-day Jammu & Kashmir visit from Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on a two-day tour starting June 20th, his first such visit after returning to power at the Centre. According to sources, the PM will take part in several events and projects to push development in the union territory.

On day one, PM Modi will launch over 84 development initiatives worth Rs 1,500 crore related to infrastructure, education, roads etc. He will lay the foundation of key projects like Industrial Estates to boost livelihoods and colleges to make higher education more accessible.

An event titled ‘Empowering Youth’ involving the distribution of appointment letters is also scheduled. On June 21st, the PM will lead the International Yoga Day celebrations in Srinagar attended by over 7,000 people as per sources.

His visit comes at a time when terrorism is back on the radar in J&K with multiple attacks recently. Authorities say multi-tier security arrangements have been made all around keeping the threat perception in mind.

Aimed at showcasing post-Article 370 changes, the trip also gains significance due to its ability to inspire people, especially youth. Residents see this as a renewed focus on progressing developmental works on the ground.
