PM Modi’s Republic Day attire has always been the subject of awe. Last year, he chose a multicolor “bandhani” print turban and a brown Nehru jacket for his look. During Republic Day celebrations in the national capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived sporting a red and yellow striped turban with a long veil, a brown bandh gala jacket, and a multi-colored pocket square. He also sported white pyjama and churidar pants.
Modi arrived at the Kartavya Path with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. He received President Droupadi Murmu and her Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto, who is attending the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest this year.
The multicolored turban highlighted the Prime Minister’s connection to India’s cultural heritage. Before arriving at Kartavya Path, PM Modi paid his respects to the fallen soldiers by observing a two-minute silence, honoring the supreme sacrifices of armed personnel who have protected the nation.
The prime minister performed the wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial before the president hoisted the Indian flag at Kartavya Path as the celebrations kicked off the Republic Day parade. Every year, the government sets a theme for the Republic Day celebrations, and this year, the theme set is “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” or “Golden India: Heritage and Progress.”
