Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will visit the US on February 12 and 13, said he looked forward to meeting his “friend” and President Donald Trump. PM Modi said his US trip will be an opportunity to build upon the successes of bilateral collaboration during Trump’s first term in office.
PM Modi is currently headed to France on a three-day visit beginning today and will co-chair the AI Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron. He will then head to the US, which will be his first visit since Trump returned to the White House in January.
From France, I will proceed on a two-day visit to the US at the invitation of President Donald Trump. I look forward to meeting my friend, President Trump. Although this will be our first meeting following his historic electoral victory and inauguration in January, I have a very warm recollection of working together in his first term in building a comprehensive global strategic partnership between India and the US,” he said in a departure statement.
The Prime Minister said the US visit would be an opportunity to develop an agenda to further deepen bilateral partnership in key areas, including technology, trade, defence and energy.
“This visit will be an opportunity to build on the successes of our collaboration in his first term and to work out an agenda that would further elevate and deepen our partnership both in the areas of technology, trade, defence, energy, and supply chain resilience, we will do this work together for the mutual benefit of the people of our two countries as well as shape a better future for the world,” he said.
