Addressing a Kolhapur rally, PM Modi attacked the Opposition coalition, saying it may have five PMs in five years if elected. He asserted the polls are about India’s progress.
Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita, addressed her first public meeting in East Delhi’s Kondli area. She alleged that the AAP chief was jailed for building schools and health centers and urging people to vote out “dictatorship.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi hit out at the Modi government over jobs and price rises in Latur, Maharashtra. She claimed central vacancies haven’t been filled for a decade while GST has dented farmers.
Addressing casteism and defiance of democracy in the state, she promised to abolish GST on agricultural equipment if elected.
In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP released its manifesto, incorporating a move to develop Visakhapatnam as the executive capital and Amaravati, Kurnool as legislative and judicial hubs.
The second phase of polling across 13 states on April 26 saw an estimated 61% turnout, with Tripura recording the highest at 78.53% and UP the lowest at 53.80%. Polling in poll-related violence-hit Manipur stood at 77.18%.
