Post office superintendent dies by suicide after CBI raid

In a sad incident, the post office superintendent of UP’s Bulandshahr was reported to have committed suicide after a CBI raid in connection with a corruption case. Known by the pseudonym TP Singh, observations suggest that he attributed it to harassment by his peers.

Singh was later found dead in his home district of Aligarh after being grilled by the CBI for several days. Earlier in his death, he posted a suicide note in WhatsApp groups, with many people noting dynamism at work as a major cause.

In a note he wrote on August 21, 2024, he conveyed that he was feeling restricted and pressured and all sorts of harassment from different employees. Talking to the police chief of Aligarh, he listed several persons and said that he felt encaged because of their pressure to produce more. “Was under constant pressure to get work done,” he wrote of his distress and pointed at particular people with whom he has to work.

The CBI searched the main post office on Wednesday evening, interrogating some people and collecting some documents regarding the case. Official accounts said that Singh was grilled until 4 in the morning.

The message he wrote was spread to social media sites, and according to some sources, he himself sent the note via Whats App.
