Prashant Kishor’s firm replaces two Bihar candidates

Lt Gen Sri Krishna Singh (retd) has been replaced by Kiran Singh because the decorated army officer was not a registered voter in Bihar but in Noida in UP.

ARA: The Jan Suraaj, founded by election strategist Prashant Kishor, replaced two of its four candidates for the by-polls in Bihar on Wednesday, including Lt Gen Sri Krishna Singh (retd), who was named the party candidate from Tarari last week.

Lt. Gen Singh dropped from the race because he was a voter on the electoral roll in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, not Bihar.

Which automatically disqualified him from contesting assembly elections in Bihar under the provisions of section 5(c) of the Representation of the People Act as an elector of any state assembly seat wherein he had filed his nomination.

Kiran Singh is a social activist who works to empower and educate women in Tarari. He announced that he would replace the army officer in the position of Ghanshyam Rai.

The party leader made this announcement while addressing a Press conference at Ara, headquarters of Bhojpur district, in the presence of founder Prashant Kishor and acting president Manoj Bharti.

The party said Lt. Gen Singh submitted the form to include his name, but this was not done as no new names could be added to the electoral roll once the model code of conduct has kicked in.
