Pre-Election fear: Crude bombs unearthed in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district

The West Bengal cops come across something in Murshidabad district, which is watched by popular elections. On Friday night there have been discovered more than 2 dozen crude bombs which have been found at different spots. Therefore, people have started to be more concerned about possible violence that may happen even before the elections are held.

According to the police, 25 crude bombs, along with assembling material, were discovered in Domkal a day before. However, three further bombs were discovered at Jalangi in the early hours of the morning as well.

Though Domkol and Jalangi are in the Murshidabad Lok Sabha constituency, they are still miles away. In the third phase, the largest Lok Sabha constituencies of Murshidabad will face the return of polling on 7 May, and as for Malda, there are two constituencies to follow.

A crude homemade bomb was found in both Domkal and Jalangi, and the police have taken lawful actions to remove these bombs safely. Still, there have not been any arrests for the alleged involvement so far.

In the last few days, we have heard about multiple incidents of blasts or the discovery of crude bombs in different areas, such as in Rejinagar, Lalgola, Beldanga, and Nabagram, around the elections of the Lok Sabha in Murshidabad.

Not long ago, two terminating days saw two disasters in Rejinagar, a village under UTTAR Pradesh’s Berhampore Lok Sabha constituency. The polling constituency is set for the 13th of May, the fourth phase of the polls.

Threats of violence loom as the Election Commission is planning to recruit 334 battalions of central forces for the upcoming election in the two districts.

The representative from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) claimed that the ruling Trinamool Congress itself was responsible for making a lot of hand-made crude bombs worth storing in concealed places. The leader, Chris Mulemu, had earlier warned the popularization of massive use of violence and maiming would happen on election day if the Election Commission did not stop the violence.

After hearing about the accusation from a TMC leader from the district, who denied involvement in such illegitimate activities and was hopeful that he would win the elections with the support of the public.
