President Droupadi Murmu conferred honors of the highest order upon distinguished Air Force units in a historic joint ceremony.
Typically, over the past 25 years, the President’s Standard and Colors have been bestowed separately to squadrons for exemplary service. At Hindon air station on March 8th, the President recognized four bodies concurrently in a first.
Squadrons 45 and 221 received the Presidential Standard. The former leads the IAF’s new indigenous Light Combat Aircraft fleet as “Flying Daggers.”
The latter, “Valiants,” played vital offensive roles in numerous missions throughout the 1999 Kargil conflict.
Also acknowledged with Presidential Colors were the 11th Base Repair Depot and 509th Signal Unit for indispensable support functions.
This landmark event conveyed unity of purpose across all ranks by collectively celebrating multiple integral parts of the aviation apparatus. It reinforced that whether in the skies or on the ground, each specialized component is integral to the enduring security of the nation.
