Principal arrested for alleged murder of six-year-old in Dahod

In a shocking incident in Gujarat’s Dahod district, police have arrested the principal of a government-run primary school for the alleged murder of a six-year-old girl. According to police, the child was killed after she resisted an attempt at rape by the principal.

The police launched an investigation on Thursday when the girl’s body was found in the school compound in Singvad taluka. Superintendent of Police Rajdeepsinh Zala stated that principal Govind Nat is accused of smothering the girl as she resisted his advances.

According to the police, he agreed to give the girl a ride in his vehicle at approximately 10:20 AM, allegedly after her mother made the request. Conversely, a number of witnesses, teachers and students alike confirmed that the girl never arrived at school.

The principal initially claimed that he had dropped the girl at school. However, he later admitted to the crime under police interrogation. It has been reported that on the way to school, he tried to sexually assault her. As she resisted the assault, he allegedly covered her mouth and nose, which rendered her unconscious.

He reached the school and took his car to a secluded place, and the girl’s body was still in that car. Later in the evening, he allegedly threw her body behind the school building and put the girl’s school bag and chappals in the classroom.

His identification as the prime suspect was also based on technical analysis apart from the timings of the principal’s departure from the school. The post-mortem report established smothering as the cause of death.

The unfortunate incident came to light when the girl failed to return home after her school hours on Thursday, following which the girl’s parents and relatives launched a search operation and stumbled upon the shocking scene in the school compound.
