Priyanka Gandhi accuses BJP of politicizing Kerala landslides

Taking umbrage over the politicizing of the tragic landslides that killed over 200 people in the Kerala district of Wayanad in July, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “You all know, very sadly, the entire mountain collapsed here. More than 200 people died, in this incident.”.

Along with this calamity and so much suffering, the BJP tried to politicize it. And that is where we draw a line today. It’s time to think of how our country should go ahead from here, about your needs, what kind of politics you want to see,” she said.

Vadra also attacked the central government for failing to provide sufficient aid to the landslide-hit families and promised to fight for their demands. “If allowed to represent you in Parliament, I will work tirelessly on your behalf. I will raise your concerns at every platform and challenge the state and central governments. You will have a resolute ally who stands firm when your needs are at stake,” she assured.

He further said, “The BJP distracts attention from rising prices and unemployment by using hatred, anger, divisiveness, and destruction.” He added that the present political scenario was not concentrated on finding solutions to the challenges. “The BJP’s strategy is designed solely to distract you from your problems, as their primary goal is to cling to power at any cost,” he added.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will also remain in Kerala on November 7 to undertake the second leg of her campaign. The by-election for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat became inevitable after Rahul Gandhi, who won the seat along with RaeBareli, opted to vacate Wayanad.
