Prominent JD(S) leader arrested in sexual assault case

This is a disappointing twist; Relatively, Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) MLC Suraj Revanna was arrested and produced a 14-day judicial custody on Sunday for a possible sexual assault situation. Local media reports suggest that the Karnataka Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will likely seek Uttar’s custody to continue interrogation.

Analytically, JD(S) leader and Pierette Revanna’s son Revanna was arrested under various sections of IPC ‘unnatural offenses’, after a male party worker complained of sexual assault by the accused at the farmhouse in Holenarasipura Taluk on 16th June.

The accused, named Revanna, allegedly sodomized the complainant, Chethan KS, 27 years and tried to threaten him to mute the issue and offered him a job and ₹ 2 crores. But Revanna has denied such charges and said that Chethan lodged a “compartmental fake complaint” to get ₹5 crore from him.

Notably, Chethan has also been accused of criminal extortion by filing a complaint to the police on behalf of Shivakumar, a close associate of the MLA. Shvakumar is accused of saying that the party worker was blackmailing the JD(S) MLC, intending to collect money, failing which he would register a case of sexual abuse.

HD Revanna, reacting to the arrest of his son, said only that he has faith in the almighty and the judicial system of the country and that he will not run away from such conspiracies. I ‘”>’ On the same issue, the Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that the police acted only when they had some clues and there is no political motive or aspect in this incident.

The JD(S) leader this arrest follows a similar incident concerning his relation, Prajwal Revanna, who was arrested for rape and intimidation charges.

As the investigation continues the case has again revealed the increase [which was witnessed earlier but not highlighted] in the cases of power and political influence misuses within the state context.
