The police investigation into the Pune Porsche car crash case has taken a new and rather scandalous turn: the alleged blood swap by the 17-year-old boy’s mother, Shivani Agarwal.
As stated by the investigators, the blood sample was taken by Dr. Shrihari Halnor and his team, one of the doctors suspected of tampering with the sample. Agarwal was said to have been in the hospital during the test, and she went into hiding after the arrest of Dr. Halnor and Dr. Ajay Tawade, another accused in the case.
The Sassoon General Hospital has already fired Dr. Halnor, the chief medical officer, in connection with these occurrences. On May 19, the son of a builder from the city, who is only 17 years of age, consumed alcohol and hurriedly drove his Porsche, hitting a bike and claiming the lives of two IT professionals, namely Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.
As stated by the police, Dr. Halnor disclosed that he had altered the blood sample as Dr. Tawade, appointed the hospital’s superintendent with the recommendation of a local MLA, had instructed him to do so.
The first blood sample submitted to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report indicated no alcohol content, which created doubts. The same was done for a second blood test and a DNA test, which showed that the samples belonged to two different people. This made the investigators think that the doctors had interfered with the evidence to protect the juvenile offender.
