This is one of the worst cases of road rage recorded in the country; recently, a woman in Pune, Maharashtra, on a scooter with two children, was dragged on the road by a man to the extent that she was left bleeding. This aggravating factor of violence has caused quite much concern regarding the safety of lives and property in the city and the behavior of the Law enforcers.
According to the victim’s report, the incident happened on Pashan-Baner Link Road when the accused, who was described as an old man, followed her scooter and tried to overtake her. As indicated in the video filmed by the woman, she was narrating the ordeal she went through.
This man followed us for almost 2km, and I was attempting to avoid him: he then swerved to the left side of the road, angrily got out of his car, and punched me hard, making me bleed at once; the woman, Jerlyn D Silva, speaking in the video.
The woman has requested justice and urged extreme punishment for the accused. She has concerns about the deteriorating lawlessness in the city. A favorite is “I don’t know where we are going,” which seems to capture the fact that the citizen has no tangible sense of security.
