Rahul Gandhi announces ‘Mahila Nyay’ guarantees at women’s rally.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi promised five guarantees for women’s empowerment and financial security during a Wednesday rally in Dhule, Maharashtra; as part of the party’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, Gandhi outlined the ‘Mahila Nyay’ agenda if elected to power.
The guarantees include directly transferring Rs. 1 lakh annually into women’s bank accounts from low-income families. Another pledge is 50% reservation for females in all government jobs under the banner ‘Aadhi Aabadi Pura Hakk’.
Gandhi also assured that the central government’s share of budgets for ASHA workers, Anganwadi employees, and mid-day meal schemes would be doubled. A nodal officer would be appointed to educate women about their rights and provide legal assistance.
Gandhi made another announcement about setting up Savitribai Phule hostels for women in every district. In a video message, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge called the guarantees ‘Mahalaxmi’ and ‘Aadhi Aabadi Pura Hakk’.
Kharge stressed that these were not simple promises but serious commitments if voted to power. He argued that the assurances would empower women from marginalized sections. Gandhi is undertaking the cross-country yatra to highlight the party’s views on inclusive development ahead of the national polls.
