Rahul Gandhi calls for restraint against defeated Rival Smriti Irani

Evidently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has recently appealed to his supporters and all the other detractors of Smriti Irani not to insult the former minister. Much later, in a post on social media platform X, the former Congress president said, “The Indians do not want this; humiliating and insulting people is not a sign of strength but of weakness. ”

However, in 2019, Irani had marginated Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in her traditional stronghold of Amethi but was recently defeated by the Congress’ Kishori Lal Sharma by more than 1. 5 lakh votes. Gandhi’s appeal comes as a result of this electoral defeat.

Winning and losing are a part of life. I would request people not to get vulgar and nasty towards Smt Smriti Irani or any other leader, for that matter, Gandhi posted on the social networking site.

There is no clear understanding of why the Congress leader sent this appeal, yet this step is viewed as a manifestation of political manners in the midst of a fierce political battle.

In the 2024 general elections, Rahul Gandhi also fought and won from Rae Bareli and Wayanad. He later vacated the Kerala constituency, and the Congress announced that his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, would be the Congress candidate from Wayanad.

Smriti Irani, for her part, accepted the defeat with much grace. She said that she wanted to thank her supporters and that her ‘josh’ is high.

It would be a fitting tribute to say that apart from approaching the Games as a Gladiator, Irani went through winning and losing as a champion who held on to the fundamentals of sportsmanship, thankfulness, and wit.

For the people who were with me in victory and defeat, I thank you. Thank you to those who are rejoicing today. Congratulations To those who are asking, ‘How’s the Josh?’ my answer to you, Sir, is ‘It’s high, sir

The former minister has also relinquished her official bungalow at 28 Tughlak Crescent in Lutyens’ Delhi, symbolizing the role of political reverie for her.
