Rahul Gandhi condemns attack on army officers in Madhya Pradesh

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, came down heavily on the center on Thursday over the brutal attack on two Indian Army officials and the alleged gang rape of their female companion in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He condemned the incident as shameful; they failed to maintain the law and order situation in many states and criticized the BJP-ruled states.

The attack happened when the officers and some of their friends were having a picnic on Wednesday night with unknown attackers. The following quote by Gandhi highlighted the extent of the problem. It said, “The fact that two army soldiers were killed and the woman companion raped is enough to embarrass the society.

They are indulging in provocative acts that the political leadership of the BJP-ruled states is only capable of. The spirit of lawlessness and orderlessness appears to be ruling Hyderabad and the BJP in general. ”

He further went on to point out that this kind of violent act is none other than a lack of efficient administration and ensures insecurity among women as they continue fighting for their freedoms and dreams in India.

The officers are 23 and 24 years old, and according to the Badgonda police station in charge, Lokendra Singh Hirore, they were in the area for a Young Officers course at the Infantry School in Mhow cantonment. Shortly after 2 AM on Wednesday, a group of six to seven individuals attacked the officers and their friends while they were in their car.

Gandhi said in his last statement: ‘How much longer will they close their eyes to the task of safeguarding half the country’s population’?
