A war of words erupted between Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal after the Congress leader accused the AAP chief of making false promises. Kejriwal claimed Gandhi “abused him”.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday lashed out at AAP, one of the allies of the INDIA bloc, and equated Arvind Kejriwal with Prime Minister Narendra Modi—an accusation that both of them make false promises. Minutes later, Kejriwal retorted that Rahul Gandhi “abused him” and that he was fighting to “save the Congress.”
You ask Kejriwal ji whether he wants reservations for the backward and a caste census. When I talk about the caste census, I don’t hear a word from both PM Modi and Kejriwal. There is no difference between Kejriwal and PM Modi as they both make false promises,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks come as tensions between Congress and AAP have been simmering since they joined hands in Delhi last year during the Lok Sabha elections. Neither party managed to win a single seat in the national capital during the parliamentary polls.
During the rally, Rahul Gandhi told the public that PM Modi and Kejriwal promised inflation control but actually failed to lower it. Additionally, he reiterated that in the country, there was increasing impoverishment of the poor and wealth of rich individuals.
Rahul Gandhi said: “PM Modi and Kejriwal don’t want the backward and minorities to get their due. They remain silent on caste census,” while announcing that Congress would increase reservation cap if formed govt in Delhi.
Raking up Gautam Adani’s bribery case, in which US prosecutors had charged the industrialist with paying USD 265 million (around Rs 2,029 crore) in bribes to get solar energy contracts, Rahul Gandhi accused Kejriwal of maintaining silence over the issue.
