Rahul Gandhi is reportedly upset over not finalizing a seat-sharing deal with MVA allies ahead of the Maharashtra elections.
India Today, quoting sources, reported that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is reportedly concerned over “favoritism” in the party’s suggested list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra.
It is said that Rahul is not too pleased with the screening committee’s choice of names dispatched to the CEC, and he raised the issue during the meeting held on Friday.
According to the report, Rahul pointed out that the list of candidates provided seemed to “favor” confident Congress leaders from the state.
He opposed the share of Congress stronghold seats to Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena in Vidarbha and Mumbai under seat-sharing.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising Sharad Pawar’s NCP, Uddhav’s Shiv Sena, and Congress, has reached an 85-85-85 seat-sharing formula for the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly’s assembly polls.
ABP news sources reported that Rahul was also unhappy with the time the MVA allies were taking to finalize the seat-sharing agreement.
As Gandhi said at the CEC meeting yesterday at Congress headquarters here, Congress state leaders did not present their points strongly enough, thus leaving them less potent with the seat bagged by the Congress.
