Rahul Gandhi launches “Bharat Dojo Yatra” after martial arts training

Indian politician Rahul Gandhi posted a video today showing some of the martial arts training sessions that he did during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra back in 2020. Disclosing his intention to undertake an outreach program known as Bharat Dojo Yatra in the near future, Gandhi mentioned that the word ‘Dojo’ stands for martial arts training hall.

As for X, in his post, he noted the experience by saying that as most of the yatris and local martial arts students took to practicing the daily jiu-jitsu, it had become more of a community effort. ”That we used to exercise, and it changed into a way we bonded,” he added.

The event, called the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, lasted two months from Manipur to Mumbai. It was the second Bharat Jodo Yatra, after which it started in September 2022 and ended in January 2023.

In the eight-minute video, he is seen teaching children different moves. At some point, he says that he is a black belt in Aikido and a blue belt in jiu-jitsu. He emphasized the mission behind the training: to familiarise young people with the concept of “Gentle Art,” based on the union of meditation, jiu-jitsu, Aikido, and non-physical struggle.

When giving his thoughts on National Sports Day, he hoped that by sharing this experience, the attitude towards practicing martial arts and the right spirit as a martial artist would be promoted, hoping to create a safer and kinder society.
