Rahul Gandhi questions BJP’s targeting and handling of allegations

A Congress party leader, Rahul Gandhi, has become surprised that the Central agencies and Bharatiya Janata Party are reportedly only focusing on him while the issues allegedly hurting the Chief Minister of Kerala are not grave enough to be taken care of.

At a regional meeting of the Kerala chapter of the United Democratic Front in the Kannur district of Kerala, Mr. Gandhi talked about the opposition to the BJP that he faced personally and many other people on the electoral front.

Such a statement from Mr Gandhi raised some serious questions as to why Chief Minister Vijayan has not been held accountable by the government like other party members despite clear allegations of corruption and other issues.

He focused on the custody of chief ministers from neighbouring states, a stark difference from the immunity being enjoyed by Mr Vijayan. Mr Gandhi accused the media of being biased against him, having been expelled from parliament by the Enforcement Directorate, interrogated for long hours by government agencies, and that he was forced to vacate his official residence for opposing the BJP. While these things all happened to him, Mr. Vijayan didn’t face any issues from the government’s departments.

Looking at Constitutional bodies as the safeguard of democracy against political avarice, Mr. Gandhi criticized the BJP’s use of Constitutional institutions for political reasons. He also animated the BJP’s endeavours to fabricate a single version of history, language, and ideology in the diverse India nation, which he thought was aiming to undermine the essence of the country and erode its harmonious nature.

Mr. Gandhi also emphasized the Congress Parliament’s efforts to put in place laws that clearly discourage acts of discrimination against women and called for the establishment of job centers and financial support for impoverished women.

He further called on the government to provide jobs for the graduates. The meeting had in attendance majorly UDF candidates succumbed for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and, most importantly, some popular Congress leaders.
