Ratan Tata addresses health concerns after ICU admission

Ratan Tata attempted to allay fears relating to his health on Monday afternoon after he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to a sudden drop in his blood pressure. The former Lebanese prime minister sent a reassuring word via an Instagram post:

“There is no cause for concern. I want to assure everybody that these rumors are baseless. Indeed, I am doing some medical check-ups due to my age and health conditions; nevertheless, I am in good spirits.”

The 86-year-old industrialist urged the public and media to stop spreading rumors about his health. A similar message was shared on X: “Thank you for thinking of me.”

Apart from being a great business magnate, the philanthropist is a national icon in his own right. Ratan Tata is best recognized as the great-grandson of Jamsetji Tata, who founded what has now grown to become one of the largest conglomerates globally. The diverse businesses of Tata Group include automotive, aerospace and defense, information technology, steel, real estate, financial services, and tourism.

The octogenarian, who led Tata Group twice from 1991 to 2012 and then from 2016 to 2017, has moved away from the daily operations but is leading the group’s charitable trusts. He was awarded multiple awards, including the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian award in 2008, and the Padma Bhushan in 2000.

Since his second retirement, Ratan Tata has gained a considerable following on social media. His posts on animal rights, particularly those on dogs, are touching, as are his tweets on civic sense among Indian citizens. He now has over 13 million followers on X and close to 10 million on Instagram, making him India’s most-followed entrepreneur, according to the 360 ONE Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2023.
